WHAT IS AN e-Book?

An e-Book (publication) is a method for packaging and distributing digital content.

Making a paper publication means killing a tree (in turn reducing the global ecosystem's capacity to generate oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere). Warehousing physical publications and transporting them to facilities uses up additional resources.

An electronic publication (book) - meaning the content of a publication converted to an electronic format, similar to a web page document - has none of these limitations. In digital form, a book can be stored and transmitted at virtually zero cost; the only work involved is in actually producing it! From both an economic and an environmental perspective, e-Books are an obvious economical choice for data delivery.
